Big Parts. Dual Y-Axis. Full Simultaneous Power.

The PUMA TT2100SYY is a heavy-duty, twin-spindle turning center built for large part machining in demanding, high-volume production environments. With dual Y-axis turrets, a 10" chuck capacity, and live tooling up to 5,000 rpm, it’s designed to perform complex, multi-sided machining in a single setup. The result: fewer part transfers, faster cycles, and tighter tolerances across a wide variety of materials.

Dual Y-Axis Turrets for True Simultaneous Machining

Both the upper and lower turrets on the TT2100SYY are equipped with ±2.05" of Y-axis travel, allowing for off-center milling, drilling, and tapping on either spindle. This dual-path capability supports mirrored, balanced, and synchronous machining strategies, enabling faster rough/finish passes or front/back simultaneous operations.

  • Max Turning Diameter: 10.2"

  • Max Turning Length: 20.9"

  • Chuck Size: 10"

  • Bar Capacity: 3"

  • Spindle Speed: 4,000 rpm

  • 12-station upper + 12-station lower turrets

Engineered for Heavy Loads and Superior Rigidity

A one-piece Meehanite slant bed casting supports the TT2100SYY's heavy-duty design, delivering superior vibration damping and long-term geometric stability. Roller-type LM guideways provide smooth axis travel with excellent stiffness, while spindle and ballscrew cooling systems ensure thermal consistency over long production runs.

Key construction highlights:

  • 15.2 hp spindle motor

  • Servo-driven turrets with 0.2 sec indexing

  • Integral spindle motors for fast acceleration

  • BMT65 tool mount (live tooling)

Automation, Probing, and Multi-Process Integration

The TT2100SYY is automation-ready, with built-in capabilities for bar feeders, robotic loading, and gantry systems. Probing systems can be added for automatic part setup and in-cycle inspection. The machine also includes tool load monitoring, programmable tailstock, and through-turret coolant for extended unattended operation.

FAQ Section

What makes the TT2100SYY ideal for large part production?

With its 10" chuck and 3" bar capacity, the TT2100SYY handles larger diameter parts while still delivering fast, precise cycles. The dual Y-axis turrets allow for full-featured machining in a single setup, reducing the need for secondary machines. This lowers labor costs and increases throughput, especially for automotive, aerospace, and heavy equipment components.

What is the advantage of dual Y-axis turrets?

Dual Y-axis turrets give programmers the flexibility to split complex operations between turrets. You can run simultaneous off-center milling on both the main and sub spindles or mirror operations for balanced cutting. This not only shortens cycle times but also enhances surface finish and part consistency.

How does the TT2100SYY ensure thermal stability?

The machine includes ball screw cooling, spindle chiller systems, and thermal compensation routines through the Fanuc control. These features prevent thermal drift, especially important in long-cycle jobs with tight tolerances. Combined with the rigid casting, this ensures the machine holds spec throughout continuous production.

Can the machine be integrated into automated cells?

Yes. The TT2100SYY includes automation-friendly features like bar feeder interfaces, programmable tailstock, and a rear chip conveyor. Optional probing systems allow for automatic part pickup alignment, and its compact footprint makes it easy to fit into high-density cells with robotic or gantry loading.

What tooling system does the machine support?

The TT2100SYY uses a BMT65 turret system, which supports high-rigidity bolt-on tools for both turning and live operations. Live tooling stations are driven at up to 5,000 rpm and support both radial and axial tool holders. The turret design ensures minimal tool deflection and fast indexing for shorter non-cut times.
