Y‑Axis and Live Tooling Combined for One‑Setup Machining

The Lynx 2100LYB integrates a programmable Y-axis, live tooling, and full C-axis turning into one cycle—eliminating secondary operations and machine handling. Ideal for parts requiring cross holes, milled flats, or slots, this machine offers an 8″ chuck with 11.8″ turning diameter and 20.0″ length, paired with high-speed turret indexing (0.11 sec) and rapid traverse rates (X: 1,181 IPM; Y: 394 IPM; Z: 1,417 IPM).

Rigid Build for Consistent Accuracy

Built on a one-piece Meehanite® slant-bed with widely spaced roller-type guideways, the machine resists deflection and maintains alignment under heavy cutting forces. It features large-diameter ball screws directly coupled to AC servo motors with disturbance torque detection for crash protection and repeatable motion accuracy (±0.00008″ X, ±0.00012″ Z).

Full Tooling Flexibility with Live Turret and C-Axis

A 12-station BMT‑45 turret with 24-position indexing supports live tooling (6,000 rpm rotary motors) for milling and rigid tapping. Combined with programmable C-axis control, this setup supports complex machining in one fixture. The Preci-Flex® tooling adapters ensure rigidity and fast changeovers.

Intuitive FANUC Controls and Tool Monitoring

Equipped with FANUC 0i-Plus and a 15″ iHMi touchscreen controller, this machine features EZ Guide i conversational programming and integrated Tool Load Monitoring. Operators can set wear thresholds and automate tool changes or shutdowns to maintain quality and uptime.

Automation-Ready and Low Maintenance

The Lynx 2100LYB includes a standard part catcher, barfeed interface, chip conveyor, and onboard tool setter. Its bolt-on coolant tank and separate grease lubrication system reduce maintenance complexity. High-pressure coolant (145 or 1,000 PSI) options improve chip evacuation and tool life for deeper or high-speed cuts.

FAQ Section

What operations can the Y-axis perform?

Y-axis motion enables machining off-center features—such as flat-milling, cross-drilling, and slotting—without re-fixturing or secondary processes.

How do live tooling and C-axis enhance productivity?

They enable turning, drilling, milling, and rigid tapping within one setup—minimizing cycle time and part handling.

Is the machine ready for automation?

Yes. With standard conveyors, part catcher, tool setter, and barfeed interface—and optional high-pressure coolant—it’s ideal for lights-out production environments.

How user-friendly is the control system?

Operators benefit from EZ Guide i with iHMi touch programming and built-in tool load monitoring for intuitive programming and process control.

How durable is the machine under high-use conditions?

The sturdy Meehanite cast bed, wide-span guideways, torque detection electronics, and beltless servo drive system ensure long-term rigidity and reliable repeatability.
