What to Know About IMTS 2026 More Broadly

Industrial AI is the defining theme. 

For the first time at IMTS, industrial AI has its own dedicated arena and full-day conference, separate from the general exhibit halls. It will be present across every building and discipline. For shops trying to understand what AI in manufacturing actually means for their operation beyond the marketing noise, the conference sessions will be more grounded than most trade publication coverage of the topic.

Bring a real application. 

The shops that get the most from IMTS come with a specific part, a specific tolerance challenge, a specific material, or a specific throughput problem. "Looking at 5-axis" is a starting point. "We have a titanium aerospace bracket that currently takes four setups and we want to understand what a DVF would change" produces a real answer from the demo team.

Plan the demo schedule first. 

The value of IMTS over any other way of evaluating equipment is seeing machines cut. Build your schedule around which machines you want to see running and at what times, then fill the rest of the day around those anchors. A conversation with a sales engineer is useful. Watching the NHP run an actual production cycle with six pallets queued tells you something a conversation cannot.
