Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
1. As Software Controls Engineer, you will provide the technical expertise required for computer and PLC setup, programming, and assistance, including planning/writing of programming code as necessary, to ensure the end product meets functional goals expected of the product on required schedules.
2. Help control costs associated with support of the product and project commitments to meet budgeted guidelines. This includes helping to establish realistic time expenditure goals to be spent by himself/herself for achieving functional requirements of projects and the attainment of timely completion of tasks within these goals.
3. Work with the Controls Engineering & Integration Manager, Shop Supervisor, and your Project Manager to provide support of projects in the shop. When assigned to projects, keep the Controls Engineering & Integration Manager and your Project Manager informed on the project so he can ensure coverage on projects when you are out of the plant on other assignments.
4. Make recommendations to other functions of the company to achieve quality improvement or lowering of design and manufacturing costs of the company's products, drawing on experience derived from testing, installing, and operating Ellison Technologies Automation’s products and customer inputs gained through administering training programs or through customer service contacts.
5. When assigned by a Controls Engineering & Integration Manager, assistance in handling incoming calls for service assistance or parts orders consistent with the company's Spare Parts Order Policy or other comparable policies.
6. Maintain policy that if Ellison Technologies Automation’s built equipment installed and in production at customer's site is down, it receives highest priority attention for service unless instructed otherwise by Ellison Technologies Automation’s management. Keep the Ellison Technologies Automation’s Controls Engineering & Integration Manager or your Project Manager informed on a daily basis of customer complaints or dissatisfaction.
7. Follow all established customer service procedures and practices (i.e. telephone log of service calls, trip report log) to maintain an orderly reference file in the Customer Service Office. This also includes necessity to maintain a clearly documented record of software files for his/her project that can be easily accessed by any technician to restore a cell in the field.
8. Ensure that any information relevant to Job Files (log sheets from assistance work, robot cell inspection sheets, trip reports, etc.) are given to the Customer Service Manger in a timely manner.
9. Provide inputs to Engineering, Manufacturing, and Ellison Technologies Automation’s management as appropriate to inform them of findings that are significant to designing or developing improved or new products. These may range from excerpts of trip reports to specifically written memos or oral conversations. These must include any performance or functional problems or product quality concerns.
10. Assistance with quotation/proposal activity as requested to assure valid and accurate representation of capabilities of robotic or flexible automation products of the company and realistic costs in terms of manpower expenditures and equipment/software requirements to achieve these goals.
11. Carry out other tasks and assignments as requested by a Controls Engineering & Integration Manager or your Project Manager.
12. Utilize various software programs available within Ellison Technologies Automation, Inc. to assistance with computer utilization goals of the company.
13. May be required to back up other techs on larger projects, and assistance the lead tech on project assistances.
14. Work with all robot technicians to transfer any new technical information that has been received or learned in the shop, field, or training class.

1. Education And/Or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school offering Visual Basic training; or minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
3. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
4. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
5. Licenses and Other Requirements:
a. Must have and maintain a valid drivers license and maintain a good driving record. *

c. Must be at ease working with others of essentially equal or even greater technical expertise and experience in an effective manner.
d. Must be able to travel.
e. Must have the ability to make independent, advanced and technological decisions with projects while maintaining communications with Project Managers to complete project and customer satisfaction.

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and vibration.
